Live Zoom Event and Video Production

Here are a few still shots from a recent live event we video recorded for a client and also broadcast via Zoom.

The client wanted to broadcast the event to those who could not attend in person then also have a post event video to share in perpetuity.

In this case we supplied a two man crew with two cameras, one for broadcast recording and one for recording locally giving us b-roll for the post event video.

We furnished a PA system with two handheld wireless mics to amplify the presenters for those in attendance. This allowed us to take the feed directly from the PA system into the laptop for the Zoom broadcast giving us excellent audio for the broadcast as well as the recorded video.

We used a camcorder for the broadcast which enabled us to get a closeup of the featured presenter and allowed us to zoom in and out or pan as necessary. A DSLR was used for the archive b-roll camera. Two laptops allowed us to monitor the feed going out as well as logging in as a guest to see what the remote user experience was like. In addition we managed the flow of participants from the Zoom waiting room into the online meeting.

The venue is a former industrial building that houses a collection of sports cars and a collection of neon signs. This was an evening event so after the sunset the general lighting is very low so we supplemented what the venue had to offer with a strong ring light that acted as a spotlight for the onstage presenters. Truth be told the lighting was not ideal but luckily the cameras could adjust to the low light conditions.

All-in-all the live presentation, broadcast and subsequent edited version was a big success.

Thanks to Mike Rataj who assisted and provided these photos.
