Zoom Conference Video Post-Production Editing

Your Zoom conference does not have to look like it was recorded on Zoom.

I have had the privilege of editing a number of multi-day Zoom recorded conference for this client.

Typically there are about 20 sessions presented live on Zoom over a 2-day weekend event, then recorded to be shared as part of a membership program, archived for those who missed a session or used by the individual presenters to extend their message or promote their services.

My first task is to break the lengthy all-day recorded video into individual segments because no one is going to click on a four or five hour video. I then add a title card with opening music to each presenter’s video segment, clean-up any audio or video anomalies including distracting uhmms and ahs, add lower-thirds to better identify the speaker,s provide a visual context background for the presentation to establish a branded look and give the video a more elevated visual appeal. When required I also lay in higher resolution Powerpoint slides or add stock photos, b-roll or other visual enhancements to break-up what could otherwise be a rather static series of “talking head” presentations.

It’s interesting that Live Zoom videos are accepted at face value for what they are and how they look because the act of participating seems to help the viewer to overlook the generic quality of the presentation. But when viewing a recording of the same presentation they tend to look uninspired and boring. That’s why post production editing is so important if you have recorded your Zoom presentation with the idea of archiving it or otherwise distributing it further. As an archived video or as a video distributed as a bonus or for an additional fee there is a unspoken expectation of receiving a more polished production.

So if you plan to share or distribute your Zoom video conference, training or presentation don’t just accept what you have, consider a little post-production video editing “magic” to enhance your brand, clarify your message, and keep your viewers more engaged.

After editing all of the segment I also provide this client with a conference video trailer to promote their video archive and future events. You can see one of the trailers below which also provides a glimpse from some of the individual conference segments.
