Musical pedagogue Dr. James Lyke, Professor Emeritus, University of Illinois talks about his collection of piano arrangements based on the songs of Irving Berlin. The collection “Play it With Music” is published by Lee Roberts Music Publications and is distributed through Hal Leonard Music. We produced this somewhat impromptu video onsite LIVE at the 2015 MTNA Conference in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Lyke’s description of the pieces is accompanied on the piano by his co-arranger and collaborator Geoffrey Haydon.
This is a good example of how to take advantage of the resources at a trade show or conference to promote your products. It is often a perfect time when all of the knowledgeable stakeholders are available in one place and the venue offers an active and energetic backdrop for your production.
Geoff put me onto the YouTube video of Say It With Music. I thought it was great! Thanks for putting together that amazing video. I usually don’t like to see or hear myself, but this time, I did.
This is a short promo we produced showing excerpts from a Workers Health & Safety Conference we videotaped in Connecticut. The conference was presented as four one-and-a-half-hour sessions over two days to a group of construction industry delegates from China and involved a translator. We recorded each session then added the PowerPoint slides in post production. The final version was delivered a few weeks later to the seminar attendees and other stakeholders as a DVD set to serve as a review and to share the content with their staff. In this promo I took the animated intro we produced and used it as a background, superimposing excerpts from the conference as a picture-in-picture on top.
I cannot say enough great things about Reno, and the services he provided, both before, during and after our conference. Reno is a highly valued, ongoing asset to our team, not only providing video and writing services but overall communication guidance and spot-on strategic input as well. He is an experienced, professional & creative thinker who is reliable and easy to work with. It was both a privilege and pleasure to work with Reno, and we have made plans to incorporate his services into our future projects. – Ed Lai, VisionBridgeConsulting.com
This video was produced to promote an online business seminar. It’s important when your visitors come to your website that they can immediately understand what you have to offer. A video like this can give your message quickly and effectively. We typically describe this type of video as the website “essential video” that quickly tell…

This is an example of a product video produced for Superscope Technologies to introduce their new PSD450 Mark II digital recorder. It was shot at The Lake Shore Music Studio, Chicago featuring (my wife) Julie Lovison and one of her talented piano students.
Showing your product in action is a compelling way to demonstrate its features. This digital recorder has a number of useful applications, one of which is the value of recording a music lesson so that both the student or teacher can review the performance and recommendations for improvement between lessons.
We produced this video to be customizable for a client looking to promote an environmentally friendly “Green” education theme.
This video is very usable as-is however it is also very flexible. This uses a chroma key for video outside the window, which means that the outside video can be easily swapped. Titles can be changed to customize message. Timing, pan and zoom can be easily altered. Chalkboard provides perfect canvas for green message.
Client can request changes from me, use as-is or have the chroma-key version to swap their own outside video. Also available with or without music and effects.
I do some marketing consulting for a music publisher, and on the spur of the moment decided to make some quick ad hoc videos with a few composers and arrangers who attended a recent conference. It occurred to me that trade shows, conventions and conferences are a perfect time to “pick the brain” of some of your company or industry experts because they are all available in one place. In this example it was an opportunity for one of the composers to give us a little insight into why he included the arrangements he included in this current collection of music for jazz piano students.
Think about who the experts are in your company, organization or industry and consider getting video clips that you can use to further the understanding of your products or services. Then brand and use them in your marketing materials.
This is a series of video I produced and edited for my wife’s piano school blog. They are what I would term “video composites” that use sections within the video frame to tell a broader story and brand the video. In each example we see a still shot of each student’s recital picture as well…
